Key Design Ambitions
Construction of Grade A buildings with a combined size in excess of 900,000ft2 all of them complete with a dedicated entrances and office space to serve the ‘last-mile’ logistics sector.
‘Last-mile’ is a term used in supply chain management and transportation planning to describe the last leg of a journey comprising the movement of people and goods from a transportation hub to a final destination.
In supply chain management last-mile describes the difficult last part in the transportation of people and packages from hubs to final destinations.
Last-mile delivery is an increasingly studied field as the number of business to consumer (b2c) deliveries grow especially from e-commerce companies in freight transportation, and ride-sharing companies in personal transportation. All buildings are being designed to meet BREEAM Excellent.
DESIGN RISK MANAGEMENT CHALLENGES TO MITIGATE / COMMUNICATE & MANAGE:
Adjacent Train networks and associated infrastructure, water courses, public highways and residencies.
Public interfaces required to be managed given the sites are located near to residential areas as well as to other retail and industrial park businesses.
All sites are Brownfield in nature. Therefore, they all pose risks from potential presence of subterranean contaminants and constraints.
Asbestos (and other hazardous materials) Removal, Demolition, Site Clearance, Japanese Knotweed Removal and Ecology Management are all required to be considered and mitigated within the Planning Stage.
Logistics Management and site set up – Crane and Lifting Strategies, Traffic Management, Security, Access and Egress, Temporary Works Management, etc…
